Our 5 Most Common Auto Locksmith Service Calls

DSC00062

Over the course of the years that Always Locksmith has been servicing clients in London and the greater London area, we have provided goods and services to countless clients. In terms of auto locksmith services, we have certainly provided solutions for just about every possible issue that one could dream up. The following list represents the five most common auto locksmith service calls that we receive:

1. Emergency Lock Out/Car Opening

Emergency lock outs are by far the most common auto locksmith service calls that our call centre fields. This should come as no surprise as most people will generally lock their car doors as a matter of reflex upon exiting. We found that people will typically lock their keys in their car early on cold mornings. Many times, people enjoy turning on the ignition of their cars and letting the heater run in their cars for a couple of minutes prior to heading out to work. Unfortunately, people will many times accidentally lock the doors leaving them in a precarious and cold situation.

2. Trunk Opening/Keys Locked Inside
Trunk openings are our next most common auto locksmith call. Generally, these trunk locked outs will occur when people are leaving a store or arriving home from a shopping trip. People will fumble with packages and accidentally place the keys in their trunk and close it without thinking. This can be incredibly annoying especially with a couple of containers of ice cream in the trunk.

3. Remake Lost/ Broken Keys
Having to remake car keys that were either lost or broken is also a fairly regular occurrence at Always Locksmith. Remaking keys these days is not the simple process that it was 10 years ago. Not only do keys have to be cut but they also have to be matched in order to deactivate the car’s immobiliser system. This requires an experience locksmith equipped with special diagnostic keys tools and software in order to reprogram the transponder keys.

4. Extract Broken Keys From Ignition/Door Cylinder
Key extractions are not as common as they used to be and are generally required with older cars. Over the past few years, the level of technology utilized in car door and ignition systems has increased by leaps and bounds. The process of turning a key has become something more akin to turning on a light switch rather than physically adjusting a locking mechanism. Breaking a key in the ignition or door cylinder can be an incredible hassle, especially when it breaks in the ignition. An experienced locksmith is required in order to extract the broken key without doing damage to the ignition or door cylinder, as they case may be.

5. Repair/Replace Broken Ignition
A broken ignition in a car will completely debilitate the automobile and requires the services of an experienced locksmith. Only an experienced locksmith will have the know how to remove the ignition and either repair or replace it without doing any damage either to the ignition or the car.

The fully certified, insured and highly experienced technicians at Always Locksmith are fully capable of handling all of the above issues and far more. If you find yourself in need of an auto locksmith at any hour of the day or night then call our emergency call centre. Our emergency call centre stands ready 24/7/365 to field your call and dispatch a technician to your location without delay to get you up and running in no time.
